General Education Committee

The General Education Committee is chaired by the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and composed of faculty, staff, and student representatives from across campus. Committee members were appointed in February 2023 for two-year terms until May 2025. The mission of the General Education Committee (GEC) at Rice is to advise on and support general education by:

• Representing the interests and preferences related to general education of faculty/staff/students in each school/program/student body.
• Participating in reform, implementation, and ongoing revision efforts related to general education at Rice.
• Being knowledgeable about general education at Rice and nationally and disseminating information about general education back to the faculty/staff/students in each school/program/the student body.
